Hayworth is leader who puts partisanship aside
I applaud U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Bedford, for taking a stand for America as it was envisioned by our founding fathers. At the same time I am deeply grieved that political pontifications take pre-eminence over the issues that really matter to people and what Congresswoman Hayworth is fighting for: from being instrumental in getting the Environmental Protection Agency, to extending its review deadline, to PCB cleanup in the Hudson River, to voting against drilling for oil in Alaska and against cutting funding for mass transit in New York despite the direction of her own party. Congresswoman Hayworth is an independent thinker in spite of unsubstantiated political attacks portraying her as a blind ideologue.
I have seen enough of ideology that destroyed an entire country; For almost 20 years I lived in the Soviet Union and personally experienced life under the destructive effects of socialism and communism. My heart breaks as I see the U.S. move in the direction of a country that fell apart.
We need more public servants like Congresswoman Hayworth who take a stand for the original values of America by putting politics aside and working with both parties “across the isle” to cut taxes in order to revive our stagnating economy and to reduce our disastrous budget deficit in order to spare our country from the economic collapse. She deserves our applause and support as she serves as a shining example of what a leader should be.
